I-BAC attracted 12 more foreign companies in FY 2008
During FY2008(April2008 through March 2009), I-BAC has successfully invited 12 new foreign companies to Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City by providing advisory services and organizing overseas investment seminars. Ever since its establishment in April 2006, I-BAC has attracted a total of 44 foreign companies to the Aichi/Nagoya region.

Network Meeting for Foreign Companies in Aichi-Nagoya, 2009


As part of its annual undertaking, I-BAC organized a 6th "Network Meeting for Foreign Companies" on February 13, 2009 at Nagoya Kanko Hotel. The meetings meant to provide foreign companies operating in Aichi-Nagoya with an opportunity to meet representatives of other foreign companies as well as of local enterprises, exchange information with them, and hopefully explore new business possibilities. This year's meeting attracted a record-setting 187 participants.
At the "seminar," the first half of the meeting, Mr. Hideo Hayakawa, Director, Nagoya Branch, Bank of Japan, delivered a lecture titled "Economic Overview for 2009." We also had Mr. Julian Bashore, Representative Director of Bodycote Japan K.K., who presented his company's aggressive business expansion plans in Japan.
A buffet reception followed the seminar, during which active networking activities were observed among the participants. The Network Meeting 2009 thus obtained an outstanding success.
I-BAC Delegation Visited Hong Kong and Shanghai
Aichi-Nagoya Business Seminar in Hong Kong held at the Dynasty Club on October 31, 2008


With assistance from the Chinese Manufactures' Association in Hong Kong (CMA), the I-BAC delegation organized a business seminar on October 31, 2008, where 50 people attended from local enterprises. Following the presentation on Aichi-Nagoya's investment environment by Mr. Jiro Takahashi, Vice-Chairman of I-BAC, Mr. Minoru Suzuki, Director of JETRO Hong Kong, spoke about the recent economic relations between Japan and Hong Kong. As a representative of Hong Kong's business community, Mr. Choi Pat Tai, President of Pakshing Travel Co., Ltd., shared his experiences in Nagoya with the audience.
Both Hong Kong and Aichi-Nagoya participants actively exchanged their views and opinions during the buffet reception which followed the seminar.
During its stay in Hong Kong, the I-BAC delegation visited 2 local companies that have keen interest in the Aichi-Nagoya market.
Aichi-Nagoya Business Seminar in Shanghai held at Jinjiang Tower Shanghai on November 5, 2008


I-BAC's investment seminar in Shanghai attracted more than 120 business people, mostly from Shanghai-based companies. The seminar was co-hosted by Tokai Japan-China Trade Center, and supported by China Council for Promotion of Trade Shanghai and Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board. Mr. Jiro Takahashi, Vice-Chairman of I-BAC, opened the seminar, and he was followed by Mr. Kenichi Tomiyoshi, Director-General of Department of Labor and Industry, Aichi Prefectural Government, who made a presentation on Aichi-Nagoya's investment conditions. Mr. Yasushi Iwata, Deputy Director of JETRO Shanghai, also spoke about China's investments to Japan. In addition, a speech on "Business Exchange between China and Japan" was delivered by Mr. Chen Kan, Sales Management Department, China Eastern Airlines.
The buffet reception after the seminar proved to be an excellent opportunity for both Japanese and Chinese participants to deepen their understanding among each other.
The I-BAC delegation visited a total of 10 local companies during its stay in Shanghai.

I-BAC starts its mailing services
I-BAC started sending e-mailed messages when there arise events and opportunities which we believe you find useful, such as the "Network Meeting for Foreign Companies in Aichi-Nagoya."
E-mailed messages from I-BAC will be sent out approximately 140 foreign companies (180 persons) and 100 Japanese companies and organizations (140 persons) on a semi-regular basis with one delivery issued every two month.
As our mailing capability matures, we also intend to provide an "AD space" in our messages where you can place your AD, advertising your products and services, or seeking after business partners.
It is I-BAC's sincere hope to be able to any assistance to the foreign companies based in the Aichi/Nagoya region, and we are determined to continue our efforts through our mailing operations.

During FY 2007 (April 2007 through March 2008), I-BAC assisted with more than 120 foreign companies with their Japan operations, by providing advisory services and organizing investment seminars overseas. I-BAC has thus successfully invited 15 new foreign companies to Aichi Prefecture and the City of Nagoya. Ever since its establishment in April 2006, I-BAC has attracted a total of 32 foreign companies to the Aichi/Nagoya region.

Network Meeting for Foreign-Affiliated Companies 2008


As part of its annual undertaking, I-BAC organized a 5th "Network Meeting for Foreign-Affiliated Companies" at a Nagoya hotel, where opportunities were offered for foreign companies in Aichi/Nagoya to make acquaintance of other foreign companies as well as perspective local enterprises, exchange information with them, and hopefully explore new business dimensions together. The meeting took place on Thursday, February 14, 2008.
At the "seminar," the first half of the meeting, Ms. Maki Mizuhara, Nagoya Representative of Wall Street Associates K. K. and Mr. Junji Oda, HR Manager of Du Pont Kabushiki Kaisha made their respective presentations on the theme of "How to obtain and retain HR," one of the key interests of the foreign companies in this region. During the buffet party which followed, the participants actively talked with each other, exchanging views and opinions on various matter, and the meeting thus obtained a great success. The meeting was attended a total of 130 people from foreign and Japanese companies, foreign diplomatic establishments and other related organizations.
I-BAC Delegation visited UK, Germany and Finland


The I-BAC delegation organized a business seminar in London on Thursday, November 15, 2007, with participation of 8 senior members of the Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC). Following the presentation on Aichi-Nagoya's general overview by Mr. Kenichi Tomiyoshi, Director-General of Aichi Prefectural Government's Department of Labor and Industry, a more detailed explanation was given under the title of "Introduction of Japan Aircraft Industry in Nagoya Vicinity." Lively business conversations among the participants were observed at the luncheon which followed the seminar.


At WTC Helsinki, too, the I-BAC delegation organized a business seminar on Thursday, November 23, 2007, inviting 10 members from the Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce. The seminar was jointly opened by Mr. Jiro Takahashi, leader of the delegation and Vice-Chairman of Nagoya Chamber Commerce & Industry, and Mr. Petteri Kostermaa who dually serves as Chairman of Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Vice-President of Finnair. The luncheon after the seminar proved to be an excellent opportunity for both Japanese and Finnish participants to deepen their understanding of each other.

Japan - Korea - China Industrial Fair 2007 In Seoul


I-BAC took part in Japan - Korea - China Industrial Fair 2007 which was held in Seoul on June 13-16, 2007.
Organized by JETRO, KOTRA and CCPIT, Industrial Fair was attended by a total of 8,203 people.
During its 4-day period, the I-BAC officers visited more than 100 booths so that the Korean and Chinese exhibitors could better understand the business environment of Aichi-Nagoya.
I-BAC also took this opportunity to make an on-site inspection of a Korean company in the suburb of Seoul.
The precision tools manufactuerer, with substantial volume of business with Japanese car makers, intends to establish a factory in or near Nagoya, had earlier contacted I-BAC in relation to acquisition of land.
The I-BAC officers met the CEO of this company and confirmed that I-BAC will continue to extend whatever assistance possible to make this project a reality.
Network Meeting for Foreign-Affiliated Companies in Aichi-Nagoya

On Wednesday, February 14, 2007, I-BAC organized a "Network Meeting for Foreign-Affiliated Companies," an opportunity for international businesses operating in this area to become better acquainted with each other and to further promote their business activities.
The meeting was attended by more than 100 participants, from not only foreign-affiliated companies, but also from local Japanese companies and foreign diplomatic establishments in Central Japan. Mr. Jiro Takahashi, Vice President of I-BAC, welcomed the audience, and Mr. Hideaki Imamura, Senior Vice President of Boston Consulting Group, delivered a lecture under the theme "From Nagoya to the world, from the world to Nagoya."
The reception which followed the meeting served as a "get acquainted" session where representatives of the foreign companies actively searched for new business opportunities. The "Network Meeting" thus obtained an outstanding success.
