Living environment

As of 2008, around 230,000 people from abroad reside in Aichi Prefecture, including permanent residents, students and posted businesspersons. Plans are well under way to make Nagoya more friendly to residents from abroad such as by installing more direction boards written in both Japanese and foreign languages, a legacy of the highly successful EXPO 2005 Aichi, Japan.

Living expenses

Nagoya is one of the three largest cities in Japan, the prices of commodities and housing are lower here than in Tokyo or Osaka. Time spent commuting is also shorter. Nagoya residents therefore enjoy a more relaxed life.
